Richardson Trek 2017

Richardson- Trek 2017....

The team plans for 2017 are pretty much finalised and we are pleased to announce a very similar line up to 2016, although we have been able to make some additional spaces available for some exceptional young riders, three of whom will be first year seniors. This takes the number of U23s in the team to 8 riders and we believe this represents one of the strongest U23 line ups in the country and something that reflects the teams ethos of helping develop young talent.

New to the team are Sam Henning who rode strongly in Europe in 2016 with the junior HMT team. James Jenkins, a local Southend Wheelers rider who has already ridden well at senior level and in the junior national series. Frank Longstaff, another local lad who rode for Corley this year and showed real promise in the senior races (and in fact won on the track for Richardsons in his debut race). And finally Olli Maxwell from Neon Velo, who has proved what he can do at senior level and has already been top 20 in Premier Calendars. We are really pleased to welcome these guys to the team and give them the chance to pull on the orange jersey, we know that they will be great additions to the team and cannot wait to see what they can do in 2017.

We are amazingly grateful for the continued support of our sponsors, without who there would be no team and we are pleased to say that 2017 will see us with the same names on the jersey, so a huge thank you to Richardson Cycles, Trek, The London Leg Up Fund, Metrow Foods, IKO Plc, Firmco, EASST and Le Col. The stability of the team has been possible due to their support and it has enabled us to build a team which focuses on helping young riders develop.

Finally, a tearful yet proud goodbye to the Welsh giant, Rhys Howells, who has been with the team for five years and has become part of the family. In that time growing immensely as a rider, from a strong lad in a Hackney jersey to a top ten rider in the Premier Calendar races. He will be moving up to UCI Continental level and although not announced will apparently have a big target on his back, in more ways than one ! (answers on a post card please). We wish him every success, he deserves it.
